A brilliant article by Zeynep Tufecki in The New York Times, “The shameful open secret behind Southwest’s failure”, should be required reading for all managers who postpone upgrading their systems for financial reasons, and as a result take on technical debt: maintaining outdated systems they try to fix by patching up technologies that should have been retired long ago.
