SNAP and SSI
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers financial assistance to those with low income to help them afford food.
Commonly known as “food stamps,” this popular program can be paired with SSI benefits to further help beneficiaries.
There are actually rules in place to make it easier for those who are 60 years of age and older to claim SNAP benefits, reports GoBankingRates.
For example, standard households can have up to $2,500 in countable resources and still qualify for SNAP.
For households with a disabled individual or senior, that limit rises to $3,750.
