Progressive Pet Insurance Review 2023 – Forbes Advisor

Pet insurance coverage doesn’t begin immediately after you sign up and pay your premium. You’ll have to get through the waiting period before it kicks in.

Progressive’s plan from Pets Best has three waiting periods:

  • Accidents: three days
  • Illnesses: 14 days
  • Cruciate ligament issues: six months

Most insurers have a 14-day illness waiting period, so Progressive’s coverage is standard. However, some insurers, including Spot and ASPCA Pet Insurance, have two-week accident waiting periods, giving Progressive pet insurance an advantage in this category.

Like Progressive, many insurers have an extended waiting period for cruciate ligament problems. However, some don’t, so if your pet’s breed is prone to these issues, Progressive might not be your best option.
