Hi, my name is Paulina & I am currently raising 3 dogs. About a year and a half ago, my oldest baby (being 3 years old back then) was diagnosed with arthritis in his right hip & he was put on painkillers & was doing a lot better. About 6 months ago, he started limping again which is when I took him back to the vet. His arthritis had progressed from one hip to both hips & both knees. He was also diagnosed with hip dysplasia, torn ligaments & a torn ACL. All of these issues are unrealistic for his age considering he had just turned 5. The vet calls him a “unicorn case”. He needed surgeries on both knees, so we got him the first one & really soon the bills started adding up. A lot of pain medications weren’t working so they kept trying new things every time I brought him to the vet. The surgery was originally 5k, then he started physical & laser therapy, which is $1,600 a month along with painkillers which were somehow more & more every time we went. He is now 2.5 months post op but he needs another 6k surgery so he can be in less pain & live his life more comfortably as arthritis is not treatable. At this point, his vet bills are getting so expensive that I’m drowning myself in debt trying to make sure my boy can feel as comfortable as possible. This is a huge step for me as I hate asking for help but I am running out of options.
