Croatia’s general govt debt down 0.4% y/y in Sept

ZAGREB (Croatia), December 30 (SeeNews) – Croatia’s total consolidated debt of all general government sub-sectors reached 344.2 billion kuna ($48.9 billion/ 45.7 billion euro) at the end of September, 0.1% higher compared to end-June and lower by 0.4% from the end of September 2021, the central bank said on Friday.

Its annual decrease was due to a combination of a decline in the external debt of 8.1 billion kuna, or 7.0%, and an increase in the domestic debt of 6.9 billion (3.0%), the central bank said in a statement.

Measured against the annual gross domestic product (GDP), the share of the general government debt in GDP continues to fall for a sixth consecutive quarter, it added.

The total general government debt at the end of September 2022 amounted to 70.4% of the estimated GDP, down by 11.1 percentage points compared to the end of September 2021 and lower by 2.7 percentage points from the end of the previous quarter.
