Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell says that a solution to raising the debt limit will have to begin in the House and that President Biden and Speaker McCarthy will have to negotiate on raising the debt limit. “I can’t imagine any kind of debt ceiling measure that could pass the Senate that would also pass the House…In this current situation, the debt ceiling fix, if there is one…will have to come out of the House,” McConnell says, adding that “it’s entirely reasonable for the new speaker to put spending reductions on the table” in talks with the president. close
