28-year-old Bryan Christopher Kohberger was arrested Thursday night in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, about 80 miles from Philadelphia, according to James Fry, who serves as Moscow, Idaho\u2019s police chief.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Latah County prosecutor Bill Thompson said Kohberger was charged with four counts of first-degree murder as well as felony burglary.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Kohberger is expected to be extradited back to Moscow, where the University of Idaho is located.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Kohberger is a graduate student at Washington State University and a resident of Pullman, Washington, a city less than 10 miles from the University of Idaho, Fry said in a Friday afternoon press conference.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not released the evidence that led police to Kohberger or any information on his alleged motive. Under Idaho state law, an affidavit laying out the facts behind Kohberger\u2019s arrest will remain under seal until he returns to the state and is served with a local arrest warrant, Thompson said.<\/p>\n

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were stabbed to death inside the house where the first three victims lived near campus in Moscow, Idaho, during the early morning hours of November 13, according to police. Police believe the two surviving roommates and their dog slept through the killings on the first floor of the home. For weeks, police were unable to locate a suspect or a murder weapon, but made a break in the case in early December when they asked the public to help find a white sedan that was spotted nearby at the time of the murders. The killings sparked fears of a repeat attack among students, many of whom fled to their hometowns and enrolled in classes remotely.<\/p>\n
